Gulzar

Sampooran Singh Kalra, known as Gulzar, was born in Dina (now in Pakistan) and made his life in Bombay. Alongside a celebrated film career, he built a distinct poetic idiom — the short free-verse "triveni" among his inventions — turning everyday objects into metaphysics. His poetry collections and film lyrics have won him honours from the Sahitya Akademi award to an Academy Award.
